What I Learned from over 100+ Podcasts with over 10,000 Downloads

I have no entered the third year of The Capital Stack Podcast. Something that started with the intent of doing just 10 episodes really became a part of my weekly workflow. I have interviewed over 100 guests with no duplicates so far. I will say that I am far from having a “blockbuster hit” of a show, though I do have a smaller niche audience that seems to like it. Here is what I’ve learned from-

  1. Consistency is everything.
  2. The more you do the better you become.
  3. Podcasting, like most everything, is a series of re-dedications. You will have to continue to commit to the craft to ensure that it still excites you.
  4. Big star guests don’t mean anything. I’ve had better quality episodes with less known people.
  5. Interviewing is one of the best tools in my tool kit for getting smarter on certain topics and industries.
  6. Asking for referrals for new guests has 10x’d my network.
  7. Everyone likes talking about themselves.
  8. To establish consistency, I have to have meaningful conversations with individuals who share my interests and exchange ideas on the topics that captivate me.
  9. The second I feel like this is work is when I am going to stop doing it.

I get up early, like really early—truly, at an unfathomable hour. As part of my morning ritual, I engage in expressive writing to bring clarity to the labyrinth of my thoughts. Delving into topics encompassing startups, investing, and personal growth. People seem to like it.
