Market Pull Backs and Ecuador

Market is getting shaken up after I leave the country. I hope I don’t miss any buying opportunities!

We finally arrived in Quito, Ecuador, after 14-hours of traveling. It wasn’t easy traveling this distance with a three-year-old. We are staying in Hacienda Jimenita for 24-yours so we can gather with our 18-person group and take our necessary COVID tests before our trip into the Galapagos.

Today we spent the day hiking at some beautiful trails on the hotel’s property (pictured above). Following the hikes, I was eating some incredible ceviche, where I was then interrupted by a notification from my yahoo finance app.

Markets had a substantial pullback. Approximately 2% decrease on the major indices, and the VIX was up 15%. Of course, there were plenty of reasons the news pointed to this volatility, such as COVID news and a Chinese real estate firm going bankrupt. I think people are taking profits. It is refreshing to see the market shaken up a little bit.
