I took a little break from the blog. I was feeling a little uninspired – I questioned the frequency in which I write. Is it necessary to post 5x a week? Do my subscribers value it? Do I even care? I have to admit there has been very limited intentionality behind the blog- no real end game in mind. Investor Howard Lindzon talks that his blog is a great way to organize his thought. I can relate to that. I also feel it is a way to get operational leverage for myself as I am a solo-GP and the consistency of my content may me look bigger than I appear. Kind of like a puffer fish. I also recently read an article about how writing a blog post is the best way to document what you learned. This resonates with me- it’s like my own personal knowledge base, which I can reference later. Even if no one reads it, I still benefit from having written it down. So here I am again, writing away!
If I was to deconstruct my blog it follows the following categories.
Founder/Investor topics generally leaning towards emotional intelligence
Venture market observations and thoughts- quarterly deal intelligence and annuals letter
A list of the things I am reading (articles/blogs/books) and listening to (podcasts)
Thematic research we do internally at DWP Capital
Weekly Capital Stack podcast recap (the email that usually gets people to unsubscribe)
I do not know the majority of people that subscribe to Ramblings, and I would love to know who you are and what you are interested in hearing about. Is the frequency the right amount or should I consolidate it?
I am open to your thoughts and suggestions here. I will take everything into consideration when deciding what content to share in the coming months. Feel free to reach out directly or leave a comment below if you would like to discuss further. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of the David Paul subscription family! Your support is greatly appreciated.
