Charitable Weekend for the Paul's

Charity and philanthropy were not values that my parents instilled in me. My wife is the exact opposite. She is always making efforts to help the less fortunate, and I love her for it. This weekend was full of charitable endeavors.

On Saturday, my wife and I flew out to Los Angeles for the One Step Closer Charity Poker Tournament for children with cerebral palsy. My wife has sat on the board for 1SCF for over 10+ years, and I am lucky enough to rub elbows with influential people who also support the cause. Below is us with Jason Alexander (George Castanza) and director Pete Farrelly. My wife had a role with Jason in Farrelly’s “Shallow Hal.”

My other role model in giving back is Susan Cordts of Catalytic Health Partners. No one is more progressive and forward-thinking than Susan. I am so lucky to know her. She hosted an event where we could sponsor a family with Christmas presents. I took my daughter Sophia to give away gifts. It was fun to teach her the fun of giving presents away. Charity work is a value I want to instill in my children. Below is Sophia giving out presents.

I get up early, like really early—truly, at an unfathomable hour. As part of my morning ritual, I engage in expressive writing to bring clarity to the labyrinth of my thoughts. Delving into topics encompassing startups, investing, and personal growth. People seem to like it.
