Insomnia and Strategic Planning

I could hardly sleep last night, and it wasn’t from drinking coffee past noon. It was from adrenaline. I am so freakin’ excited about DWP Capital. Why, you may ask? It is because I’ve just completed my strategic plan for 2022. This is me a 2:37am after I gave up on trying to sleep.

One of my portfolio company CEOs, Rob Pakalsi, told me once “Everything that we have been successful at is always something that we truly defined.” For me, that couldn’t be more true. I am pretty good at being methodical when doing due diligence on a company. But when I am deal sourcing or creating LP relationships, I often run around with my head cut off.

Creating structure and objectives will allow me to see how I am performing throughout the year and give me leading indicators where I need to be spending more of my time. As an emerging manager, it is easy to give myself permission to not be accountable.

I finished the strategic plan and am sharing it with some trusted colleagues. Once I solidify the plan, I will be excited to share it with you in future posts!
