Dialing in what I should be reading and why.
Ingesting content can be tedious. There is so much of it out there. It is pretty overwhelming. I always try to stay informed, but it is hard to identify which sources to consume and when. I was listening to my favorite pod – The All-In Podcast, where they stated a revolutionary concept. They noted a well-rounded, educated person should have a balanced content diet. As a result, I paid for a subscription to Puck.News.
Identifying the validity of internet content is difficult. It requires time and research. I find it very frustrating that I have to validate what I read in this day and age. Who has the time for it? The “besties” in the All-in Podcast made an analogy to this point by comparing a content diet to a food diet. It is much easier to eat garbage and not exercise. The result is a terrible after-product which can be said about ingesting lousy content.
Puck is a media publisher startup founded by top-tier independent journalists (New York Times, Washington Post, etc.), focusing on 4-clear areas: Washington, Wall Street, Silicone Valley, and Hollywood. They stand behind the idea that journalism should not be accessible. I believe this and the amount of free content out there are cheap and sensational.
As a result, I decided to delete all the subscriptions and narrowly follow certain genuinely independent journalists. So far, I am happy with the quality of content, but I have also noticed how much more sophisticated it is compared to the dumbed-down periodicals I have been reading.
