My Phone Addiction, Tech Markets, and Birthdays

Hello, my name is David, and I am a phone addict. It is making my life unmanageable. At work, I use my phone to stay completely engaged with my communications and outreach. However, when I get home, I always seem to need “a hit” to subdue my subconscious dopamine urges. Having my face on my phone is keeping me from engaging with my family. I need a detox.

I bought this device on Amazon, and it is working wonders. It is a lockbox with a timer. It’s brilliant! My wife says it completely changes my demeanor, stress, and engagement at home. I highly recommend it if you have zero self-control. Sticking the phone in the drawer did not work for me.

This weekend was my twin’s first birthday. All had a good time.

I am very attuned with the markets and the macro environment this week. Netflix pulled down the Nasdaq considerably last week, with a share price going to 2018 levels. This drop did not help the already plummeting growth sector in marquee names like Shopify.

This week, I will be watching Apple’s and Tesla’s earnings as I believe that will be a good indicator of how much the tech sector will go down.

Geopolitical conflicts are not making the situation any easier. The Ukraine/Russia conflict appears to be escalating. My sister is a photojournalist that lives in Kyiv. She is on Full Bright Scholar and will be pulled out due to the rising tensions at the border.

Now is a time to watch, be mindful, and not react.

I get up early, like really early—truly, at an unfathomable hour. As part of my morning ritual, I engage in expressive writing to bring clarity to the labyrinth of my thoughts. Delving into topics encompassing startups, investing, and personal growth. People seem to like it.
