Nic Cage wanted to do the entire film drunk': the self-destructive power of Leaving Las Vegas

It is springtime in Phoenix, and besides a couple of weird outliers rainy days, it has been wonderful. I have gotten soft over the winter time, and it is time to start cycling and running again. One of the significant benefits of long-term aerobic activity is podcasts. I forgot how amazing it is to consume hours of educational content while crushing calories and being in Zone 2 (Josh Wagner knows about Zone 2).

A couple of podcast episodes that have been incredible to listen to recently are:

  • Tim Ferris interviews legendary investor Bill Gurley on frameworks and his favorite books applicable to investing.

  • Howard Lindzon interviews Josh Brown of Ritholtz Wealth Management on markets, generative AI, and the wealth management business.

  • Andrew Huberman interviews Dr. Satchin Panda about intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating.

Books I am reading:

How To Invest – A great read by the founder of Carlisle, David Rubenstein, where he interviews the greatest investors by asset class on what makes a great investor. Interviewees include Ray Dalio, Mark Andressen, Sam Zell, and Stan Druckenmiller.

The Price We Pay – A book by Dr. Marty McKary about the systemic healthcare issues in America backed by extensive interviews and peer-reviewed research. Incredible read.

Articles:

Jeff Diamond of Fika Ventures wrote a great piece on Medium called Healthcare Staffing in the Age of the Apprenticeship Economy.

I am Vegas-bound today to spend the weekend with my closest guy friends. I don’t drink or gamble, but I know the weekend will be full of constant ribbing and belly laughs.

I get up early, like really early—truly, at an unfathomable hour. As part of my morning ritual, I engage in expressive writing to bring clarity to the labyrinth of my thoughts. Delving into topics encompassing startups, investing, and personal growth. People seem to like it.
